Pusapatirega (Vizianagaram): Tension prevailed in Pusapatirega mandal of Vizianagaram district as the locals intruded into the lands belonging to MLA Narayana Swamy Naidu. They alleged that the government is looting the poor and grabbing their lands. They damaged the fencing and tried to occupy the land.
Hundreds of locals of Kovvada village in Pusapatirega mandal rushed to the lands allotted to Tammi Naidu, son of Narayana Swamy Naidu, and damaged the fencing.
They alleged that they have been in the possession of the lands for the past few years but the government had grabbed their lands from them and allotted to the family of MLA.
Actually,16.65 acres of land in that village was allotted to locals long ago and D-Pattas were also issued and they have been cultivating the lands, but the government had later decided to allot the same lands to SVS Chemicals which is owned by the family of Nellimarla MLA. Locals said that they are not consulted and not even paid compensation for the lands.
After receiving information, local police, along with DSP K Chakravarthi, rushed to the spot and convinced the locals to go back from the site, but they denied and that led to jostling between the police and public.
Later, the police assured the public that they would arrange a meeting with the RDO and settle the issue as per the norms. On learning about the incident, Narayana Swamy Naidu said that locals are obstructing the development. “We are planning to establish a firm here and will provide employment to local youth, but they are not understanding and creating nuisance,” he said.
