An IndiGo flight had a narrow escape on the runway at the Vizag airport on Tuesday when a wild boar came under the aircraft while it was in the last stage of taxing.
The Indigo Airlines in a statement said that there was no time to abort the take-off, hence the pilot went ahead but returned shortly to assess any possible damage to plane as a precaution.
The aircraft had as many as 160 passengers and crew aboard.
The flight from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad struck a wandering wild boar on the runway during take-off. The captain immediately reported the matter to the Air Traffic Control and made a precautionary landing back at the Vizag airport to get the aircraft inspected.
The safety checks, however, resulted in the delay of one-and-a-half hours before the flight resumed its journey.
The incident has been reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
