The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths have trapped an engineer of Water Resources Department (WRD) of Dowleswaram Irrigation Circle here on Friday and seized a bribed amount of Rs 10,000 from him.
Rajamahendravaram: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths have trapped an engineer of Water Resources Department (WRD) of Dowleswaram Irrigation Circle here on Friday and seized a bribed amount of Rs 10,000 from him.
Speaking to reporters in the office of WRD, ACB deputy superintendent of police B Sudhakar said that the assistant executive engineer, S Kondala Rao, was trapped at Food Corporation of India (FCI) godowns near Dowleswaram, while he was taking the amount from Jelli Bala Gangadhar.
Jelli Bala Gangadhar had applied to get a lease for 3.6 acres of lanka land. Later, he sent the application to the Collector, which in turn was referred to Rajamahendravaram urban tahsildar, and from there to Godavari Head Works executive engineer.
Finally, the application came to Kondala Rao for verification and clearance. With this, he demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 and Gangadhar lodged a complaint with ACB, he added.
