Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana said the State government has sanctioned Rs 5.5 crore for conducting the prestigious Flamingo festival in January.
He reviewed arrangements to be made for festival with officials at his camp office on Thursday. The Minister said Rs 2.5 crore for developing basic amenities and Rs 3 crore have been earmarked for organising the festival. He also said arrangements are being made to provide SHAR visit to festival participants and also viewing birds with mega binoculars.
He said the State government had released Rs 60 crore this year for improving tourism spots in the district. He reiterated that the government has been conducting the Flamingo festival as an official festival for the last three years allocating necessary funds. He asked the officials to arrange drinking water, boating, toilets and others to the sightseers, who visit the place for enjoying the fest.
Further, the Minister visited mini bypass road where central lighting works are in progress. He said they were beautifying all 110 municipalities across the State with central dividers and others. Bougainvillea plants will be useful for good flowers in the central dividers and even animals also don’t eat their leaves, he said.
Narayana stated around 18 km of beautification works have to be completed in the city. He said they had allocated Rs 1 crore for beautification of the Children’s Park in the city. Kovur legislator P S Reddy, NUDA Chairman K S Reddy, former Minister P Ratnam, In-Charge District Collector Imtiaz, and others were present.
