Organs of a brain-dead patient were harvested by doctors of Narayana Super Specialty Hospital here on Wednesday. Ramaiah, a resident of Nandavaram village in Marripadu mandal, had met with an accident ten days ago at Marripadu and he was rushed to Atmakur Area Hospital for treatment. Further, he was referred to Narayana Super Specialty Hospital in Chintareddypalem in Nellore.

Ramaiah, a resident of Nandavaram village in Marripadu mandal, had met with an accident ten days ago at Marripadu and he was rushed to Atmakur Area Hospital for treatment. Further, he was referred to Narayana Super Specialty Hospital in Chintareddypalem in Nellore.
There was no response in his condition as the body refused for treatment due to severe injuries close to the brain. The doctors declared him as a brain-dead on Tuesday. Family members of Ramaiah had agreed to donate organs to the needy. Authorities of Narayan Super Specialty Hospital have contacted Jeevandan Trust and police personnel for shifting the organs to various places.
Kidneys of the patient were sent to KIMS in Nellore and Narayana Hospital, eyes to Modern Eye Hospital in Nellore and liver to Manipal Hospital in Vijayawada. Son of the deceased Padma Reddy said they had decided to donate organs to the needy. They heard about organ donation and doctors also suggested them to do so,’ added Padma reddy. Narayana Medical Superintendent Dr Satish said that they had completed donation of 16 organs till now.
