Two Express trains witnessed a robbery on late Thursday night at two stations in Ananthapur district by after cutting the signal wires to stop the express trains.
The first robbery took place in Venkatadri Express, at Rayalacheruvu Juturu where the thieves cut off signal wires and entered the train.
Passengers in S-10, S11 and S-12 coaches of the Venkatadri Express were robbed of 15 pieces of jewellery and cash worth Rs 10,000.
The next one took place in Rayalaseema Express at Gutty. The robberies took place at the same time.
The passengers said that the Railway Police Force (RPF) maintained poor vigil and stated that no security was provided to them on the train. They even said that the police did not do anything to nab the thieves, despite complaints.
