Visakhapatnam: Altogether, 20,458 students have appeared for Andhra Pradesh Research Common Entrance Test(APRCET-2018) and out of them only 1,116 candidates have qualified for admission into PhD. The entrance test was conducted in two sections at various examination centres in Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram,Guntur, Kadapa, Tirupati, Nellore, Anantapur, Kurnool and Hyderabad from August 24 to 28.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao released the results at AU Jubliee Hall in the city on Monday and said that hitherto, various educational universities in the state had conducted PhD exams in various formats. For the first time, AU had conducted state wide PhD common entrance test so that the talented aspirants will be placed in right positions.

One entrance exam for the state wide is a good idea to bring out the meritorious students from rural places and to provide them better opportunities. He said 24,082 students applied for the exam APRCET-2018 and 20,458 students appearedin 70 streams. The exam was conducted for 200 marks in which 180 marks were allocated for written examination and 20 marks for interview.

As per the marks secured by the candidates in the entrance exam, interviews will be conducted at respective Universities. For further details students can avail onwww.sche.ap.gov.in/ rcetwebsite. AU Vice-Chancellor Professor G Nageswara Rao,Registrar Niranjan and others were present during the release of exam results.
