Tirupati: IT sleuths on Tuesday raided the residence of TDP leader Peram Haribabu located in Vidyanagar Colony on the city outskirts.
A team of IT officials who reached the house in the morning started the search which is going on when reports last came in at 3 in the evening.
Though Haribabu a Realtor is not holding any position in TDP, he is close to top leaders in the district , the home turf of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and bound to see string reactions from TDP leaders.
His real estate firm Peram groups is having offices at Hyderabad and Vizag also.
Sources said that the IT raid in Tirupati is a follow up to the IT raids on industrialists and entrepreneurs in Vizag which created ripples in the state.
With the raids on TDP leaders continuing in the state , it is naturally become a matter of concern for the ruling part leaders.
A group of media person who reached Haribabu residence where kept outside and IT team hurriedly shut the doors after the servats closed the gates.
It was not known Haribabu was in his home when the IT search is on.
Meanwhile, industries minister N Amarnadha Reddy and Transport mininister and district in charge minister K Atcham Naidu reacting to the raid said the raids the state is witnessing since two weeks is with ulterior motive aimed at deterring entrepreneurs and industrialists interested to invest in the state.
The two ministers talking to media at TDP district coordination meeting held in a private hotel here on Tuesday said that the IT raids are not new and they were happening since long. But the recent raids carried certainly with motive as the searches by IT sleuths limited to the indutrialists, contractors and entrepreneurs who are supporters or sympathisers of TDP, they averred while resentive the raid as selective.
