The GT R variant gets enhanced suspension, steering and braking systems. The Mercedes AMG GT R, the most aggressive road legal variant of the AMG-GT line, has made global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Nicknamed as the “beast of the green hell”, the AMT GT R is available in a special AMT Green Hell Magno paint job.

Sharper body kits, a mean looking front grill with vertical slats, new alloy wheels and a massive fixed rear spoiler differentiate the GT R from the regular variants of the sportscar.

Inside, the track ready Merc is trimmed with leather and Alcantara with bright yellow stitching. The AMG branded racing bucket seat further enhances the car’s intent.

The new variant is powered by a pumped up version of the 4.0-litre Bi-Turbo V8 petrol engine which is reported to pump out 75 PS and 50 Nm of torque more than the GT S. The output figures stand at 577 PS and 700 Nm of torque but we will know for sure later today.

Thanks to the extensive employment of carbon fibre in body panels, the Mercedes AMG GT R will be lighter than the GT S significantly. 0-100 kmph is achieved in 3.6 seconds while top speed stands at 318 kmph.
