The Vitara Brezza’s impressive performance in the sub-4 metre SUV market goes a long way in boosting Maruti’s confidence when it comes to launching more products in B and C segments. The Ignis mini crossover is the next one in line.
The car has an order backlog of over 68,000 as of now.The highly successful Vitara Brezza has managed to clock bookings of over 95,000 units so far, establishing the company’s presence in the high-margin segment in the process.
The attractively priced crossover has become so popular that people are willing to wait for as long as 8 months to get it delivered. Since its launch earlier this year, over 27,000 units have been sold and the backlog currently stands at a little over 68,000.
The Vitara Brezza’s attractive market positioning has been well received by the customers.Maruti is doing its best to debottleneck production lines at its manufacturing facilities to increase production rate. Both Manesar and Gurgaon factories are running at full capacity. The company is said to have lowered the production of older models to make room for in-demand high-margin offerings like the Vitara Brezza and Baleno.
The two new models are also the primary growth drivers for Maruti in this financial year. The Baleno too has a waiting period of 8-9 months. The recent fire accident at Subros‘ (Maruti’s AC kit supplier) plant in Manesar resulted in production loss of 30,000 units which further escalated the waiting periods but Maruti is confident that its FY target will not be affected.
