The 2017 Ford EcoSport mid-life refresh is currently in the advanced stages of development. A fleet of four prototypes has been spotted testing in Brazil recently.

These partially camouflaged prototypes reveal that the compact crossover’s profile and rear fascia will not undergo any significant changes save for revised taillights and reprofiled rear bumper.

The previous spy shots revealed that the EcoSport facelift will adopt a comprehensively overhauled front end with sharper elements. The grille and headlamps are inspired by the larger Ford Edge crossover. Unlike the European version, Indian and Brazilian versions would continue to have the spare wheel mounted on the tailgate.

Inside, the dashboard design will be revamped, complete with new instrument console, steering wheel, and centre console. The car is also expected to adopt SYNC 2 touchscreen infotainment system and new seat fabrics. We also the updated crossover to offer additional features.

Changes under the skin are expected to be minimal. The Brazilian version will continue to be powered by flex fuel engines while India-spec version will retain its two petrol engines and a lone diesel engine.

The 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift is expected to make its world premiere later this year with sales slated to commence sometime next year. Once the facelift is ready, production of the EcoSport for Europe is reported to be shifted from India to Romania.
