Hyderabad: Tata Sky, a leading direct-to-home (DTH) operator, is expecting strong growth across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, driven by success of its Naa99 base pack which is offered at Rs 99. “After we launched our Naa99 pack in April this year, our brand witnessed a 50 per cent growth in customer base in rural areas and 29 per cent upswing in cities.

We have gained over 40 per cent market share in cities and 30 per cent market share in rural areas. Today, one in every three new DTH customers is a Tata Sky subscriber,” Saleem Shaikh, Chief Sales Officer, Tata Sky, told media here. On Monday, the company celebrated success of Naa99 pack in the presence of film actor and brand ambassador Mahesh Babu here.
Tata Sky, which current offers seven active packages across India, has distribution presence in majority of villages in two Telugu states. “The launch of Naa99 and association with Mahesh Babu has strengthened our reach across the state not just as the premium brand, but a brand that has suitable offerings for everyone,” he said.
According to him, Tata Sky is clocking national growth of 20 per cent, better than industry average growth of 13 to 14 per cent. “On average, six to seven per cent of cable television households are shifting to DTH format every year, which is a good sign,” he explained.
