Murali Mohan cries foul. Nearly half the members of the Film Nagar Society were shocked to see their membership cancelled.

• Memberships terminated in view of upcoming society elections
Nearly half the members of the Film Nagar Society were shocked to see their membership cancelled. Out of 470 registered members, the memberships of 220 were terminated. The high profile names include actor-producer Murali Mohan and senior actor Kota Srinivasa Rao. The reasons that were given for the termination sounds silly: Murali Mohan had to pay a maintenance fee of Rs 1,400. Kota Srinivasa Rao meanwhile had to pay Rs 240 and 46 other such members had dues ranging between Rs 100 and Rs 150.
Murali Mohan told Hyderabad Hans, “I got to know that my membership at Film Nagar Society was terminated because of non-payment of maintenance fee only on Thursday. This is not right. They have to serve me the notice. Terminating or cancelling membership without prior intimation is illegal. I will fight against this.”
Grapevine in the Film Nagar hints at a possible political motive. Sources say that terminating 220 members, days before elections, is a conspiracy. “The termination is politically motivated. Terminating nearly half of the members is making sure that there is no opposition,” they said.
The Film Nagar Society elections are scheduled to take place on January 25.
