Aashiqui 2 Singer Ankit Tiwari Held On Rape Charges, Allegedly Raped Girlfriend. Ankit Tiwari, who sang the famous ‘Sun Raha Hai Na’ from the blockbuster Aashiqui 2 has been arrested by the Versova police station on rape charges. His brother, Ankur Tiwari, has also been arrested under threatening charges.

Reportedly, the victim of the alleged rape was Ankit Tiwari’s girlfriend, who had decided not marrying him after assuring him of marriage earlier.
Senior Police Inspector Bordke told reporters, “We arrested Ankit and his brother, Ankur, at 11 PM last night. I am taking them to the court right now. After the decision of the court, I will be able to update you as to how many days he will be under our custody.”
Ankit Tiwari has been arrested under the Indian Penal Code sections: 276 (Punishment for Rape); 493 (Cohabitation caused by a man deceitful inducing a belief of lawful marriage), 417 (Punishment for cheating) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation.
His brother, Ankur Tiwari, has been arrested under sections 503/506, falling under threatening charges.
The Tiwaris hail from a family with an ear to music. They are from Kanpur, UP. His father has his own musical group, his mother sings devotional songs. Ankur Tiwari is a student of Jugal Devi Saraswiti Mandir, Kanpur. Tiwari has won some prestigious awards, including IIFA and Filmfare for best music direction. The brothers lived in Mumbai Versova.
