He bares his heart to Lipika Varma about the dresses and the make up
Girly attires: It was indeed a pleasant experience to wear salwar kameez, long skirts and short skirts. I need to give a pat on the back of all the female folks for spending so much time on their makeup, pedicure and manicure. It is indeed a herculean task for them to keep themselves presentable at all times. I felt it is challenging for me to play a female role. I had to invest so much of my time in wearing make up. Wearing short skirts for a beach song was undeniably a learning experience for me. I would sit down on the beach with my legs spread wide open. Usually, men sit with their legs spread wide open. All the actors would ask me to sit properly. Eventually, whenever I would sit down to relax; I always covered my legs with a towel. This way I could continue with my manly sitting behavior! (smiling)
Being Hairy: I am very hairy all over the body. I could not have done this film without the support of my wife Gautami. She helped me remove all the hair from everywhere on my body. Waxing is indeed a painful procedure. As actors, we have no choice. Donning a female character was a pleasant surprise for me and my family. For the first time my wife and my kids are desperately waiting to watch me having played a woman. Playing a man and a woman simultaneously is not a joke. I had to put in my sincere efforts to make it look so natural.
Humshakals produced by Bhagnani and directed by Sajid Khan stars Riteish Deshmukh, Saif Ali Khan and Ram Kapoor. Bipasha Basu, Esha Gupta and Tammannah Bhatia are the female leads. The film is slated to hit theatres on June 20.
