Guests shower praise on actor Mohan Babu, who has completed 40 years in Telugu film industry
Dr Mohan Babu, who has made his mark in the Telugu film industry with his trademark dialogue delivery, has completed 40 years of his film career and celebration of the same was kicked off with a curtain raiser event at The Park Hyatt on Sunday.
Veteran director Dasari Narayana Rao, renowned actor Venkatesh and T Subbirami Reddy were the guests at the event. “I have special reasons for inviting these people for the event today,” says Dr Mohan Babu while recalling his association with the guests.
Expressing her ardent devotion to her father, Lakshmi Manchu said, “What I am today is all because of the way my dad raised me. It was a disciplined life.”
Recalling his father’s work ethic, son Manchu Manoj said “I hardly do one or two films a year. But dad use to do 20 films during his days. I grew up seeing him work day in and out but never had he made us to think that we missed him. He was caring and responsible towards us.”
Narrating his experiences with Sri Vidyaniketan, a school started by Mohan Babu. “I had missed the last call for a flight and was running from pillar to post. Out of the blue, a guy spoke to the officials concerned and I was allowed to board the flight. On the parting note, the guy said that he was from the School started by dad. The school started with 400 students and now with 12,700 students is recognised as one of the best schools of the country,” shared son Vishnu.
Showering lavish praise on his disciple, veteran director Dasari Narayana Rao said, “I introduced Mohan Babu with ‘Swargam Narakam’ in 1975. When I was planning for my next, Rajinikanth called me and volunteered to be part of my next film. However, I have made my mind to cast Mohan, who had already impressed me. The actor is so versatile that he started comepeting with Rajinikant from his second movie itself.”
Subbirami Reddy, Venkatesh and Dasari Narayana Rao were felicitated on the occasion and Venkatesh said that humility was Mohan Babu’s greatest trait. “He is so talented that he fits perfectly into any role offered”
Subbirami Reddy commented that Mohan Babu’s life was remarkable and flooded him with praise.
Events Galore
Multitude of events were planned to celebrate the event. Two of his most successful films ‘Assembly Rowdy’ and ‘Rayalaseema Ramanna Chowdary’ will be published as Script Books, hit songs from his movies will be compiled and released.
Apart from this, Lakshmi Manchu along with her brothers will host a special talk show with directors, producers and actors, who worked with Mohan Babu. Along with a picture exhibition, a book titled ‘Naa Routey Veru’, a compilation of his famous dialogues, will be released
‘Pedarayudu’, a landmark film in Mohan Babu’s career will be re-released and grand celebrations will be held where with eminent directors, producers and artistes who worked with Mohan Babu will participate.
