Woman kills self on police station premises
Disappointed with the police behaviour, a 28 year-old woman Kothapalli Harika committed suicide on the premises of Sircilla rural police station premises on Sunday afternoon. She consumed pesticide on the station premises and died while she was being shifted to a nearby hospital.

According to the family members, Harika, a native of Sirlavancha, got married to Sudarshan of Gudem of Mustabad mandal 18 months ago. Finding it difficult to lead life with Sudarshan, she lodged a complaint with Sircilla rural police and sought divorce. However, the police reportedly advised the couple to settle their issues in the caste panchayat with the help of their caste elders.
Sanctioning divorce, panchayat directed Sudarshan to pay Rs 2.60 lakh to Harika towards compensation and Sudarshan has been delaying the payment intentionally. Upset over the Sudarshan’s attitude, Harika on Monday gone to police station and seriously questioned the cops about the delay in payment of compensation.
Police reacted harshly and made it clear that they would arrest Sudarshan if she wanted. Disappointed with the replay, Harika consumed a pesticide in the station premises itself. Alerted police tried to save her life but she breathed her last on the way to the hospital. Police registered the case and investigating into the case.
