Hyderabad: A Telugu girl from Mahbubnagar and her friend hailing from Canada were gunned down by two miscreants in Toronto on Friday night. Cynthia John Mullapudi (24) of Mahbubnagar had been living with her family in Canada for the past 16 years.
According to reports, Cynthia and her friend Joseph Anzolona (26) of Toronto, along with two other friends, went to Parkway Mall near Victoria Park in Toronto on Friday night. After purchasing liquor from the mall, Joseph was entering the backseat of the car in the parking lot.
At about 9.57 pm, two unknown miscreants who came close to the car opened fire at Joseph, but they missed the target and hit Cynthia who collapsed on the spot. They opened another round of fire and gunned down Joseph. Two others including a woman sitting on the front seat, however, did not receive any bullet injuries,” sources said.
Cynthia’s father John Krupavaram, along with his family, moved to Canada about 16 years ago and was living in Markham. She completed her post graduation there and was working in a private firm.
The Toronto police told media that they were suspecting the target was the male (Joseph) but it was missed and hit Cynthia. Noticing that they missed the target, the miscreants shot Joseph also. Joseph died after shifting to a hospital, while Cynthia collapsed on the spot, the police said, quoting eye-witnesses that the shooter fled from the spot with another man.
The police said they were collecting CC camera footages to get clear picture of the shooter and his associate. Cynthia’s relative Scott of Mahbubnagar told the media that they were awaiting details from Toronto.
