Hyderabad: Neredmet police filed a petition in the local court seeking custody of a couple who collected Rs 10 crore from public and allegedly cheated them.

P Raghunatha Reddy and his wife Aruna Reddy, residents of Defence Colony in Neredmet had started a private chit fund company and collected about Rs 10 crore from the public.

On April 25, some of the customers visited the couple’s house and found it locked.Learning that the couple was absconding, a complaint was lodged by the victims stating that the couple had cheated them. After the police released a look out notice, the couple surrendered before the 20th Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Malkajgiri on May 2.

“The court had sent the accused to 14 days of judicial remand. We filed a petition in the court on Wednesday seeking the accused couple’s custody for further probe in the case,” said Neredmet Inspector Jagadish Chander.
