Amaravati: Four children were drowned in a water tank at a quarry in Dasarivaripalem village of Guntur district on Friday. According to the police, nine students went to the quarry for playing.
Four of them, Chukka Abhilash (14), Kanaraparthi Mahesh (15), Polisetty Gopi (15) and Sai Teja (14) ventured into the water tank at the quarry for swimming. When the foursome failed to show up, the other five students went to the tank and found their bodies floating in the water. Police retrieved the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. Following the tragedy, a pall of gloom descended on Dasarivaripalem.
