Auto gang robbing passengers nabbed
City police on Saturday arrested a gang of robbers including a juvenile who had been robbing passengers while on the move.

The arrested have been identified as Jubair Ali, who works as auto-rickshaw driver, his associates Syed Basheer and Shaik Sameer. Police seized one auto-rickshaw, cash worth Rs 4,000 and a knife from the accused.
Police said, Jubair drives the auto-rickshaw while other three accused sit in the vehicle acting as passengers. After a genuine passenger boards their auto-rickshaw, they would threaten the passenger while on the move, beat the passenger and rob them before throwing the passenger out of the vehicle in an isolated place.
The gang resorted to an offense in the wee hours of February 7 when the victim M Kanaka Raju boarded the shared auto-rickshaw at MGBS Bus Stand to go to Golnaka. The gang robbed him near Wahednagar Bride and took away Rs 16,000 in cash, mobile phone and other belongings before throwing him out of the auto-rickshaw.
The victim had lodged a complaint with the Chaderghat police the same day. The south zone task force team nabbed the accused and found that the juvenile was also involved in some other criminal cases.
