Bhadrachalam: A six-year-old boy died on Saturday allegedly due to medical negligence. He was operated upon at a private clinic near the bus stand here for tonsillitis. However, mystery shrouds the boy’s death.
The patient was identified as Pallapu Joshabhiram (6), son of Pallapu Lakshman and Rama of Sarapaka in Burgampahad mandal. It all began when his grandparents – Brahmaiah and Balanagamma--on Saturday brought the boy to the nursing home as the boy was suffering from cold.
Doctors at the nursing home advocated surgery and insisted that it should be done then and there. Soon the boy was hurriedly taken into the operation theatre and the surgery was performed on him.
After the surgery, he was directly taken into the Intensive Care Unit and the hospital staff did not let anyone see the boy. The boy was kept under observation for some time and was later rushed to a hospital in Kothagudem terming his condition precarious. However, doctors at the Kothagudem hospital declared him brought dead.
As the ambulance with the body of the boy was approaching the Bridge Centre in the temple town, the private clinic’s management invited boy’s relatives apparently for negotiations. Meanwhile, Bhadrachalam police suspected brewing of a law and order problem and rushed to the private clinic area.
The clinic’s management was quoted as saying that it asked someone on behalf of the boy to come to the hospital for negotiations.
The relatives returned home disappointed with the body even as political leaders, villagers and some of the boy’s relatives confronted with the hospital management for the death.
