A five-day course in the city; info on quality of diamonds, buying tips
Diamond enthusiasts, hobbyists and connoisseurs would have an exciting opportunity to learn more about diamonds – the qualities that add to their value, and jewellery buying tips – from one of the experts of gemmology.
Gemmological Institute of America (GIA), a nonprofit institute, is conducting a practical five-day programme on diamonds in Hyderabad starting September 29.
Students in GIA’s Diamond Grading Lab work with real diamonds and professional Gemmological tools to uncover the fascinating world inside these gems. The class teaches both technical and practical ways to observe and evaluate diamond quality, and the basics of the famous 4Cs – colour, cut, clarity and carat weight – an evaluation system created by GIA. Students also learn how the 4Cs can affect value and about the ways in which diamond treatments can affect the appearance of a stone.
GIA student Pranay Jain from Lalchand Hastimal Jewellers, Hyderabad, says, “GIA’s training has increased my knowledge about stones immensely. I now explain the stone features and details to my customers more confidently. The sales techniques and tips I’ve learnt come handy while addressing queries. It has also helped me gain the trust and confidence of my customers.”
Taught by experienced and qualified GIA instructors, the course is ideal for hobbyists, jewellery enthusiasts, connoisseurs, students and working professionals interested in diamonds.
