IMD director Y.K. Reddy informed that the Southwest monsoon is expected in the northern parts of Telangana around June 10. The Southwest monsoon over Kerala signals the arrival of the monsoon which was most likely to be on May 30.

The Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea has observed increased rainfall activity during the past few days and the IMD report states that the conditions are turning favourable for the Southwest monsoon to advance over the Andaman Sea and bordering sea areas during the next few days.

However, the farmers are getting worried with the forecast of less rain. Mr Reddy said that the percentage of deficit in both AP and Telangana states cannot be determined at present.
