Hyderabad: Surendra Mohan, Additional Commissioner (Elections), said in all the 150 wards, 4,039 nominations had been filed, out of which 189 were rejected and the total valid nominations were 3,850.The Additional Commissioner said seven candidates had withdrawn including one each from the TRS and the TDP, one from other parties and four independents.

As per the directions of the State Election Commission (SEC) with regard to the model code of conduct, so far the GHMC has removed 1,71,641 unauthorised publicity materials. With regard to law and order, as per the information from the Hyderabad Police Commissioner, 1,363 licensed arms have been seized.

The Additional Commissioner said on Monday while on inspection by the Election Authority, cash of Rs 1,90,300 had been seized at Cirlce 6, Rajendranagar. The SEC has given certain instructions to the Election Authority and the GHMC not to distribute dustbins to the households.

The SEC has given certain instructions to increase the poll percentage for which the GHMC is planning to distribute Sankalp Pathram involving the students to sign on the paper duly inviting parents and family members to cast votes so that the polling percentage will be increased.

With the newly introduced website, around 1,42,663 voters downloaded voter’s slip and 27,731 from mobile app and around 2 lakhs voters got voter’s lips through manual operations with the help of booth level officers in some of the areas.

Surendra Mohan said that two days before the poll i.e., January 31, the GHMC was planning to distribute voter’s slips to households as per the guidelines of the SEC.The Election Authority is also taking up webcasting involving engineering students in 3,000 polling stations.

Additional Commissioners Shiva Kumar Naidu, Shankaraiah and project director and other senior officials attended the meeting.
