Atmakur (Warangal): Congress Party is not a railway station platform where everyone could come and go as they wish, said Union Minister Jairam Ramesh. He made the remarks with reference to the Congress rebels like former DCC chief Donthi Madhava Reddy, contesting in the elections as independent candidates in the district and planning to come back into the party fold later. He asserted that indiscipline could not be tolerated in the party. “Those defying the directions of the party high command would have to face the consequences like the suspension of the DCC president. All the party workers would have to support the party’s official nominees. None is above the party organisation,” he cautioned.
The Union Minister addressed an election rally at Atmakur in Warangal district on Saturday. He said, “The Congress party stands for social justice. The formation of Telangana was aimed at ending the influence of feudal landlords in the region and empowering SC/ST/BC and Minority communities to ensure a socialist Telangana.” The fruits of separate Telangana should be enjoyed by the common public and not just a single person or family, he added.
“Our party is not a Dhoka (deceit) or Dhamki (Threatening) party. We do politics of integrity and peace unlike TRS which depends on politics of provocation,” Jairam Ramesh told the public. He claimed that of all the States in the country, Andhra Pradesh government was the only one that brought out SC,ST Sub-Plans.
In a similar manner, sub-plans for backward and minority communities would be brought out after Congress comes to power in Telangana, he added. Jairam Ramesh assured that the number of districts in the Telangana would be doubled and 20 districts would be formed. Widows and elders would be given Rs 1,000 pension per month, a special grant of one lakh rupees would be given to 4.5 lakh SHGs functioning in Telangana, Ramesh said listing out the promises made in the party election manifesto. Warangal Lok Sabha nominee S Rajaiah, Parkal assembly nominee E Venkatram Reddy, District Congress president N Rajender Reddy, DCCB chairman Janga Raghava Reddy and others were present.
