Night Food Courts, an initiative of the City Police Commissioner AB Venkateswara Rao, is bearing fruit. People are thronging to these centres to enjoy a late night snack. The second food court was opened at BRTS Road near Satyanarayanapuram on Tuesday night. The place now serves the people of Gandhinagar, Satyanarayanapuram, Madhuranagar, Mutyalampadu and Kedareswarapet areas as it is centrally located to all these areas.

The first night food courts were opened at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium on December 24 last year to make the city’s night life a glitzy affair after it was announced that the city was a part of the capital region. The police keep vigil to ensure that people visiting the centre are safe from miscreants.

The administration first proposed to have the second food court at Kaleswararao Market in One Town. However, after a thorough survey on the safety of people in the wee hours, the police zeroed in on BRTS Road.

The Commissioner said that they would soon give permission to open food courts at Benz Circle, Lenin Centre and One Town areas after studying security-related issues.

Municipal Commissioner Veerapandian said that the civic body would make sure a senior food inspector kept a regular check on the quality of food being served..

After the inauguration, Commissioner Rao enjoyed food along with Municipal Commissioner Veerapandian, MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and other officials.
