The Maldives Government has contracted city-based Great Sports Infra, South Asia\'s leading sports infrastructure solution provider, for the supply and installation of 35 Futsal courts totaling an area of 1.75 lakh square feet in 35 different isles of the island nation.

The Maldives Government has contracted city-based Great Sports Infra, South Asia's leading sports infrastructure solution provider, for the supply and installation of 35 Futsal courts totaling an area of 1.75 lakh square feet in 35 different isles of the island nation.


With the national game as football and a national futsal team already in place, the Maldivian government was looking for a futsal court with best playability, longest life and sutability for multisport and multipurpose. On all these counts, Great Sports Infra turned out to be the ideal choice.


Rupesh Tikku, director, sales at Great Sports Infra, says, “We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious project. The work is going on in full swing and we have completed about 50 per cent of the project in a record time. In the brief period since its introduction in this part of the world, an area of almost 6 lakh sft has been installed for clients like IAF, Indian Army, J&K Sports Council, Hyundai, Dell, TISB, Jain International School, Manipal University, Gujarat Law Society, IIT-Madras etc.


We are confident that this project will set a benchmark and be replicated in other countries as well.” Mohamed Maleeh Jamal, youth and sports minister, Maldivies, says, “GSI’s installation has been very professional and of the highest quality. We are very happy with the progress. Football legends like Ronaldo, Pele, Socrates and Zico honed their impeccable skills by playing futsal. We are optimistic about the future and aim to be one of the best teams in the sport.”
