Khammam: The All India Students’ Federation (AISF) unit of Khammam, as part of its state-wide protest, has decided to lay siege to the camp office of the Minister for Roads and Buildings, Tummala Nageswara Rao, on Saturday.
This was revealed by AISF district general secretary Jagarlamudi Ranjith Kumar at a party activists meeting here on Thursday. “It’s been almost two years since the TRS party came to power, however, the rulers have no concern towards the future of students in the state,” Ranjith said, criticising the government for not releasing fee reimbursement for the last two years.
He said that government yet to release Rs 18 crore and Rs 26 crore towards fee reimbursement for the previous and current years respectively. The AISF leader questioned the rationale behind allocating crores of rupees to temples while students were facing hardships due to non-release of scholarships.
Alleging that the government was depriving the poor of getting higher education, he called upon students to gather in large numbers at the minister’s camp office on Saturday to exert pressure on the government for to press for their charter of demands. Uppusetty Rahul, Gummadi Raju, Itikala Ramakrishna, Srikanth and Manohar were among others present at the meeting.
