FICCI honour for SCF, Mary Kom
It has been a season of recognitions for the city-based Sports Coaching Foundation (SCF).
Hyderabad: It has been a season of recognitions for the city-based Sports Coaching Foundation (SCF). Close on the heels of the ‘Best NGO’ honour bestowed by the Jindal Foundation, SCF has been conferred with the 'Best Sports NGO Award 2015-16' by none less than Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI ) in New Delhi.
The award is more fruitful as the national honour has been instituted in joint collaboration with the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) and Star Sports. The glittering occasion was the '7th Global Sports Summit', which was graced by luminaries ranging from Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, Mary Kom to MYAS Secretary, Rajiv Yadav.
On arrival in the city Saibaba said on Wednesday that it was a proud moment for the Foundation. ‘I am honoured and humbled by the fine gesture. This has further added to my responsibilities,’ said the former Ranji cricketer. The FICC’ citation specifically mentions the yeomen service rendered by the Foundation towards empowering children from the economically-deprived sections through Build India Through Sports (BITS) Project and promoting a vibrant sports culture in the slums and interiors.
