On Friday, the Governor attended the first convocation ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi University of Nalgonda at MNR Convention Centre in Nalgonda.
After felicitating meritorious students with gold medals and appreciation certificates, he addressed the gathering stating that character, gratitude, humanity and service to nature enhances one’s image in the society. Narasimhan advised the teachers to inculcate good values in the students during class hours.
Advising the students to feel proud to be Indians, he told them not to insult the nation. “India has rendered valuable contributions to the society to make people happy,” he said.
Stating that Yoga, Pranayamam are heritage properties of the nation, he advised the students to practice them regularly to improve both physical and mental stamina which helps them taking right decisions at crucial times.
“Vedas taught everything including astrology, astronomy and engineering to the world thousands of years ago before the invention of airplane by Wright brothers,” he said.
Expressing concern over the present education system in private sector, he said private institutes became money minting centres.
He advised the managements of private institutes to change their commercial mindset, otherwise they would perish with the new reforms brought in by the Telangana government.
He advised 60,000 college students of Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri districts and teachers to take part in Swachh Bharat programme on every Sunday to keep their surroundings clean and green.
Expressing concern over the submission of thesis of by PhD students, Narasimhan said it became cut, copy and paste system for students instead of taking up case studies and interactions with respective people.
Vice-chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi Professor Jagadish Kumar, in his speech, guided the students to realise their dreams with discipline and commitment.
As part of his tour, the Governor visited Nalgonda district government hospital and expressed concern over the lack of beds at maternity wards where some women were seen slept on the floor. He directed District Collector to address the issue on war foot.
He also visited Penpahad Primary Health Centre, Social Welfare Hostel, Anganwadi centre at V Chanduptla village of Chivemla mandal in Suryapet district.
MGU V-C Altaff Hussain, Suryapet District Collector Surendra Mohan, SPs Prakash Reddy, Parimala and others participated.
