Nalgonda: Political leaders in the district who had associations with slain gangster Nayeemuddin are said to be having sleepless nights as the police are hell-bent to pick up everyone related to the dreaded criminal.
Following the suspension of five police officers who had links with the Maoist-turned-extortionist in the undivided district, the political leaders who had close association with Nayeemuddin are said to be spending time in fear as they expect arrests at any time.
Nayeem, after coming out of the Maoist movement, successfully carried out his criminal activities including land grabbing, settlements and murders and became a don in the State allegedly with the help of police and politicians, but was killed on August 8 last year at Shadnagar in a police encounter.
Based on Nayeem’s diary and recommendations of SIT, the Home Ministry suspended five police officials, initiated probe into the role of four suspicious top cops and decided to take departmental action on other 16 police personnel, allegedly related to the case.
In view of this, rumours are flying thick and fast about the arrests of Nayeem associated politicians in the district.
After Nayeem’s encounter, on the complaint of a businessman, the police came to know that a ruling party MLC of present Nalgonda district had close rapport with Nayeem.
So also, they came to know that Nayeem helped a lot for political activities of another MLC of present Yadadri district.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the police came to know that an MLA from Nalgonda district had close relation with Nayeem and rumours are doing rounds about the possible arrest of this MLA also.
Recent arrest of brother of a ruling party MLA from Nalgonda by the Siddipet police in connection with links with Nayeem has created sensation in political circles.
Through this arrest, some politicians who had links with Nayeem are said to be worried about the next move of the government in Nayeem’s case.
Meanwhile, political analysts expressed doubts on the arrest of politicians, particularly the ruling party leaders in view of elections in the next two years.
