Why shy of Period?

ArtLife Events is a Hyderabad-based events and entertainment company whose services range from conducting theatre workshops, plays, music events and celebrity management. It was founded in 2017 by a public relations expert, Tarusha Saxena, along with marketing professional Prashaant Sharma.

“We both respect art and want to give something different to our audience. And we are stating this with an empowering poetry programme with a performance by viral slam poet Aranya Johar. The programme title is ‘Period’,” shares Tarusha.

About the event she says, “‘Period’ will feature Aranya Johar, an 18-year-old poet who became very popular after her ‘Spoken Word’ performance of ‘A Brown Girl’s Guide to Gender Discrimination’ went viral on YouTube.

Aranya will be in Hyderabad for the first time, though she has already performed in many events across the country. She has performed ‘Spoken Word’ on issues like gender discrimination, rape, beauty standards and the double standards of society.”

“‘Period,’ which aims to propagate ‘nothing to hide’ is the inaugural programme for ArtLife Events. Tarusha Saxena, says, “I and Prashaant believe that now, more than ever, it is important to start conversations about topics like menstruation, sexual assault and gender discrimination. We are hosting this event in the hope that all those who attend ‘Period’ will begin to have a conversation about these ‘taboo’ topics.”

“ArtLife Events aims to bring various performing arts to Hyderabad and this is a small attempt to bring a unique concept to the city, with a cause. We’re incredibly excited to have Aranya perform at this event, and we’re honoured to have dignitaries like Nanda Kishore Vyas Bilal and Padmashree Sunitha Krishnan attend as chief guests,” adds Tarusha.
