The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) bagged 18 prizes to stand first in the Garden Festival organised by the State government from January 25 to 31 this year, with the aim of giving a boost to organisations encouraging greenery. 

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) bagged 18 prizes to stand first in the Garden Festival organised by the State government from January 25 to 31 this year, with the aim of giving a boost to organisations encouraging greenery.

The HMDA, which figured in 26 categories, secured 11 first prizes, five second and two third prizes, besides being adjudged the overall champion. It bagged the rolling cup. Its outer ring road avenue plantation (in Telangana Haritha Haram) won the first prize in green belt.

The NTR Memorial Park, PV Ghat Theme Park, Butterfly Garden, Rose Garden, Rock Garden, Lumbini Park, CM’s camp office/residence, Raj Bhavan Herbal Garden, Science Park, Bathukamma Tiles-Necklace Road, Japanesse Garden, Indira Park Rotary, and Telugutalli Island won prizes. They were received by Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar and HMDA Commissioner T Chiranajeevulu.
