carHyderabad: Four persons died and one was injured in a major accident that took place at Choutuppal in Nalgonda district on Tuesday. The dead include a girl, a boy, another woman and the driver of the car. According to Choutuppal inspector Jagannadha Reddy, Puja Gupta 18, along with her brother Kanak Gupta, 12, aunt Ritu Gupta, 35, and mother Sarita Gupta who belong to Balanagar in city were going by a private vehicle to Narkatpally on the outskirts of Dharmojiguda in Choutuppal mandal on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National High Way no 65 for admission in a medical college. Except Ritu, all including Driver Srinivas, 45, died on the spot after the vehicle rammed into a stationary lorry when he attempted to overtake it. Sarita Gupta, who has been undergoing treatment, is battling for life. The bodies have been sent to Choutuppal government hospital. The police registered two cases under section 304-A (causing death by rash or negligent act) and 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the absconding lorry driver. This road has been frequently witnessing road accidents, the residents of the area said. They allege that many accidents take place as the authorities did not did not put up proper sign boards after the road widening works.
