Centre releases Rs 180 cr for AP tribal areas

The Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs has released Rs 180 crore to Andhra Pradesh under the Special Area Programme for the last three financial years. The grant, under Article 275(1) of the Constitution of the India, is meant to be utilized to bridge the gaps in infrastructure in critical tribal areas and for improving the existing infrastructure .

Hyderabad: The Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs has released Rs 180 crore to Andhra Pradesh under the Special Area Programme for the last three financial years. The grant, under Article 275(1) of the Constitution of the India, is meant to be utilized to bridge the gaps in infrastructure in critical tribal areas and for improving the existing infrastructure . They include construction of roads, bridges; creating education , health, irrigation and drinking water facilities; construction of Ekalavya Model Residential Schools, Ashram Schools and other tribal residential schools, hostel accommodation for tribal students; providing laboratories , furniture, sports infrastructure and implementation of Forest Right Act and creation of awareness about the Act among forest dwelling Scheduled Tribes and other traditional forest dwellers.
