Gudivada (Krishna): The 106th birth anniversary of Dalit leader and former Deputy Prime Minister late Babu Jagjivan Ram was celebrated at the local Madiga Employees Federation (MEF) office here on Friday. MEF district chief secretary Kumpati Rajendra Prasad lauded Jagjivan Ram for his selfless services for uplift of Dalit community. Later, former MLA Raavi Venkateshwara Rao and MEF leaders garlanded the portrait of Jagjivan Ram.

The TDP organised the celebrations at their local party office under the auspices of party in-charge and MLA Raavi Venkateshwar Rao. He and other party leaders have garlanded the portrait of Jagjivan. He lauded his role in the implementation of constitutional rights for SCs and STs, formulated by Dr Ambedkar.

Babu Jagjivan Ram Welfare Organisation has conducted the 106th birth anniversary celebrations at the local Nehru Chowk Centre. The Congress party has organised the celebrations at former minister Pinnamaneni Camp Office. YSR Congress party has organised celebrations at local party office. YSRCP leader Busi Prakash Rao demanded the government to confer Bharat Ratna posthumously for Jagjivan Ram for his great contribution in uplifting Dalits. AP NGOs Association has also celebrated the birth anniversary of eminent leader at the local NGOs Home.

Gudlavalleru: MLA Kodali Nani said that Babu Jagjivan Ram had strived for the development of weaker sections by following the ideals of Dr Ambedkar. He participated in the birth anniversary celebrations organised by Babu Jagjivan Ram Youth and Trust in Angaluru village in the mandal. MLA Raavi Venkateshwara Rao, who was the chief guest at the celebrations, asked youth to strive for fulfilling the Jagjivan's ideals. Clothes were distributed for poor people on the occasion. A blood donation camp was also organised on the occasion where 20 people donated blood.
