YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy continues to dodge investigation by SIT constituted by the AP government to probe attack on him, saying that he has no trust in AP police.

How far this stonewalling is justified? The Hans India spoke to a cross-section of people on this issue.

Most of them felt that it is not proper on the part of Jagan not to cooperate with the SIT on the probe whatever his reasons may be, because he will have to work with the same police if he comes to power in future

I can say that it is improper on the part of YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy to dodge SIT forgetting he is a responsible Opposition leader in the state. He has right to oppose his political enemy Naidu. But as responsible citizen, he is not expected to make baseless statements against the constitutional bodies.
- D Venkataswamy, retired DGM, Telecom. Chittoor

I can say that Jaganmohan Reddy made unfair comments against AP police besides dodging the investigation of SIT in his case without having prima facie evidence from any direction. It is learnt that he is not responding properly for the investigation of SIT despite receiving summons.
- Tupakula Srihari Rao, Advocate, Lawyers colony, Chittoor

Any government or investigative agency should try to retain confidence relating to their investigation of a case. YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy has not given his statement before the SIT which is enquiring on the attack on him. It is correct that he is not believing SIT enquiry.
- M Gopala Krishna, advocate, Rajamahendravaram

Being the Opposition leader Y S Jagan mohan Reddy should show some respect towards the Constitutionally formed bodies and cooperate along with SIT officials without dodging in recording his statement. - Ch Manmadha Rao, car driver, Visakhapatnam

Jagan is going legally as he doesn't have to trust AP police and government. He is demanding third party investigation through High Court. As the case is pending, he appealed to the SIT officials to wait for the court’s directive.
- N Manikyala Rao, contract worker, Vizag

The knife attack on YSRC president Jagan mohan Reddy created lot of sensation not only in AP but in the entire nation. The issue of Jagan travelling to Hyderabad from Vizag without taking treatment at Vizag also caught attention of all. His remarks on AP police also created some sensation in police and administrative circles.
- K Maridi Rao, company executive , Kakinada

By not cooperating with police, Jagan was setting a wrong precedent. While the government has tried its best to deal with the attack, Jagan's dodging shows something was fishy. If he doesn't trust AP police, who are his security guards now, whom he will trust. He should extend all the necessary support to the SIT and see that the matter is resolved. - P Suresh Babu, private employee, Tirupati

The basic reality was that knife incident is nothing but a failure drama scripted by YSRCP. And it's natural that Jaganmohan Reddy has been avoiding SIT probe just to throw mud on the government alleging that it has been fabricating the facts and influencing the probe. If he comes before SIT, truth will come out and that’s why he was avoiding.
- B Kannaiah, driver, Tirupati

It was evident that Jaganmohan Reddy wants to prolong the knife drama to make it a political issue till next elections. Due to this, he will not appear before SIT or cooperate with its investigation. But it was not proper for YSRCP or Jagan to make allegations on the government so cheaply without even giving his statement on the issue.
- D Jyothi, homemaker, Tirupati

The knife attack on Jaganmohan Reddy lead to war of words and turned out as political issue between YSRCP and TDP. The statement expressing lack of confidence on AP police by Jaganmohan Reddy precipitated the issue further. As leader of Opposition in the state, the YSRC president should cooperate with the investigation.
- R Satya Sri, private employee, Kakinada

I strongly condemn the attitude of YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy in not cooperating the investigation of SIT in knife attack case. It is unfortunate that our opposition leader has no faith in any institution particularly in police department.
- Rudravaram Srikari Rao, Bank Manager, SBI Colony, Chittoor

Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy should cooperate with the officials of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the knife attack at Vizag Airport. If he comes into power after winning the upcoming 2019 elections, he has to work with the same police officials in the State. - Vijaya Kumar, contract lecturer, Vijayawada

YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy's decision not to give his statement to the SIT regarding an attempt on his life is correct. There is no wrong in it and he is seeking justice though it is delayed.
- N Ravi Shankar, advocate, Rajamahendravaram

Jagan’s behavior is improper against AP government and police department as he should also mind that he is one of the people’s representatives of AP, he should meet the SIT officials and give his statement regarding the attack against him.
- LVN Naik, craft bazar organiser, Visakhapatnam

It is the responsibility of the government to clear doubts among public regarding knife attack on leader of opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy irrespective of his cooperation. SIT can find facts without cooperation from YS Jagan and it can proceed further to reveal facts behind the attack whether it is fake, arranged or real.
- P Raja Manohar, Law student, Etcherla

How can we decide that the leader of opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy is escaping from investigation by SIT regarding knife attack on him. He announced only that he has no confidence on SIT investigation as it is working under state government which is led by TDP.
- P Bala Krishna, private employee, Laveru
