Bengaluru : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader S. Prakash on Saturday lashed out at Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for allegedly slapping a government official, saying that arrogance and indifference were hallmark of his behaviour.

"I am not surprised by Siddaramaiah's behaviour, his hallmark is arrogance and indifference. He must have been in a sleepy mode, somebody approached him, he does not differentiate between a common man and an official because he may not know him. In a reflex he must have acted, but as a head of the state, he should not raise his hand at anyone, it is an offence," Prakash told ANI.

"We are used to such behaviour by Congress ministers in the state. Many of them are involved in such shameful act," he added.

Siddaramaiah was caught on camera slapping Ballary Corporation Commissioner P G Ramesh while avoiding crowd at an event.

Siddaramaiah was in Ballary this afternoon to attend Launch Developmental Works at Municipal College Grounds when the incident occurred.

However, Siddaramaiah later clarified that he did not slap the official.
