YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was a very popular figure, when he was caged in the disproportionate of assets case. He would have a flood of visitors every day. Jagan would chart out plans and activities for his party YSR Congress party from within the confines of his jail. Jagan continued to be in news for being the most active politician in jail. Media would make a story of his every move, every visitor. Remember Jagan even fasted in jail?

But the one question that seems to be haunting political observers is that what went wrong after release? He seems to have vanished from media reports but for mention of his press statements. Political analysts feel that YS Jagan has lost his credibility to a great extent and his chances of winning the elections at least in the Seemandhra region appears very dim.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's popularity takes a plunge?

YS Jagan has been facing allegations of taking a U turn on the contentious issue immediately after the announcement of the formation of Telangana by the CWC (Congress Working Committee) on July, 30 last year. With this very act, YS Jagan has lost his credibility among the people of Telangana region. Adding fuel to the fire, the recent development of Telugu Desam Party Member of Parliament, CM Ramesh circulating copies of notice of YS Jagan revoking his no-confidence notices submitted to the Speaker of Loksabha has dragged him closer to the ditch.

News has been making the rounds that YS Jagan is deliberately sidelining his sister Sharmila and mother YS Vijayamma. It may likely to impact his credibility even further. Also, it is learnt that YS Jagan has been offering befitting positions as his promises to the emigrants from various other parties. This too could cause an internal confrontation between the party cadres, when the actual allocation of party ticket for various constituencies takes place.

The political game is taking many twists in Andhra Pradesh due to the ongoing state bifurcation issue. At this juncture, the equations changes every now and then. The most recent survey conducted by the Andhra Octopus, Lagadapati Rajagopal has also come out with the results which are not in favour of YS Jagan. So the winds of change seems to be blowing towards Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party, based on his survey report.

However, one must not forget that opinion polls cannot be relied upon as more often than not they fail to predict accurately. Does it mean Jagan still stands a chance of winning?

Let's wait and watch...
