Nellore, Guntur bag rugby honours
Nellore men and Guntur women emerged champions in their respective categories in the State-level Rugby Seniors Championship here on Saturday. East Godavari and Kurnool men outfits finished second and third while Kurnool and Prakasam women followed Guntur in that order.

Administrative Officer of Adarsha Vidya Mandir (on whose grounds the event was held), Hari Kishan, gave away the prizes. He praised the enthusiastic participation by over 200 players, who held sway with their performances.
“I am particularly excited seeing girls competing with confidence and tackling the opponents with rare gusto. Taking to a physical activity like rugby will also strengthen the mindset of the students,” he said.
Hari Kishan also assured to provide the college premises for the conduct of every discipline because they endeavoured to be an active promoter of sports in the State. State Rugby Association General Secretary, C Ramanjaneyulu, and officials from the State and district units, K Parusha Ramudu, Surendra, Avinash Shetty, Nagarathnamaiah, Prabhakar and Paul participated in the concluding programme.
