New iPhone Case Adds Built-In Hardware Emergency Button. IPhone Case Adds Built-In Emergency Button
Washington: New iPhone case reportedly adds a unique personal safety option to the smartphone with its built-in hardware switch for emergency situations.
The Lifesaver Case consists of a switch, which provides real-time location updates and personal information about the device's owner.
According to news.com.au, the Lifesaver Case transmits live GPS coordinates from the phone, sends the user's personal details, plus triggers recording via the iPhone's video camera and microphone recording.
When the switch is triggered with a push and slide, it starts transmitting data and recording without displaying any indicators on the screen, making it usable without alerting any potential attacker.
Lifesaver Case founder and CEO Jon Powell said that developers were coming up with just an app, but the biggest problem was using the app in a life threatening situation, as realistically one wouldn't have time to unlock a device, open an app and hit a panic button to call for help.
The Lifesaver Case works with the iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and 5c and Powell said that support for leading Android devices was coming soon.
The pre-order case starts at 59 dollars and is expected to ship in August.
