Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Friday gave a shocker to the Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corportation (APFDC) by issuing a GO taking back 20 acres of land that was allotted to it. The move comes in the wake of acquisition of 189 acres of unused land allotted to APNGOs on Thursday.

The government said that it was taking back the land as it had been lying unused ever since it was allotted to them. The Revenue officials issued an order to the district Collector to implement the order immediately.

About 40 acres of land was allotted to APFDC in 1982. Of the 40 acres nine acres was allotted for construction of a studio by Padmalaya owned by veteran film actor G Krishna and another five acres to Ramanaidu for construction of studios. The remaining land was meant for studios to be constructed by others. During the course of time about four acres of land had been illegally occupied by some private people and the APFDC had asked the previous government to reclaim the illegally occupied land and protect it.

Meanwhile, the executive committee meeting of the AP Film Chambers witnessed acrimonious scenes over the issue of change of name on Friday. The dispute arose when Telangana producers and technicians objected to changing the name and instead, demanded that the chambers be divided into AP and Telangana chambers. As the members could not arrive at a conclusion, they decided to postpone the elections till the dispute was resolved.
