Children Assistance Centre opened

Zaheerabad: Children Assistance Centre would be established in all police stations in Medak district, according to District Law Secretary Kanakadurga on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters, after inaugurating Children Assistance Centre in the Zaheerabad town police station, the Law Secretary said the centres were being set up to protect the rights of the children. She advised the people to consult the personnel at the centre whenever there was some problem for children.

She stressed the need to combat the increasing trend of child trafficking and female foeticide. The centre were intended to fight against the evils of child trafficking, female foeticide and child labourer, she said.

So far as many as 10 centres were established in the district. She said there was a need to set up centres in rural police stations, too, in the backdrop of superstitious beliefs prevailing in villages.
