Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) swept the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) elections and is now working out strategies to see that it captures the GHMC in the elections that would be held soon. The results came on the lines predicted by The Hans India three days back when it had said that TRS would make a clean sweep and that the TDP BJP combine may get 0-1 seats.

While the TRS had won 4 out 8 seats on its own, two TRS rebels who emerged victorious, announced that they would support the TRS. Congress rebel Ramakrishna, representing Ward V (Marredpally), who trounced the Congress nominee Navneet, son of former Union Minister Sarve Satynarayana, announced his support to the TRS in the presence of Minister Talsanai Srinivas Yadav taking the TRS strength to 7.

Congress nominee Bhagyashri of ward VII (Trimulgherry) is the lone Congress candidate and the party is making all out efforts to see that she does not cross over to the TRS. Having won the majority of wards in the SCB, the TRS is now bound to capture the all-powerful post of Vice-Chairman of the Board. This election was in fact a litmus test for Talasani Srinivas Yadav who had recently quit the TDP and joined the TRS.

He was not sure on whether or not contest the by-elections as the Sanatnagar constituency has large number of non-Telangana population. But enthused with his success in winning the cantonment elections, Srinivas Yadav is now ready to contest the by-election if the party asks him to do so.
