Five arrested in World Cup betting racket in Hyderabad

A Cricket betting racket was busted by Cyberabad Police on Wednesday where five members were arrested who were allegedly indulged in placing bets on the match played between UAE and Ireland in the ICC World Cup tournament.

On reliable information, Special Operation Team of Cyberabad conducted raids at two places in Vanasthalipuram and detained the gang who were identified as Nagam Ravi Kumar, D Sai Kumar, Neelapala Naresh, V Sravan Reddy and G Srikanth Goud.

An amount of Rs. 1, 04, 500 along with 11 mobile phones and a laptop was seized by the Police. Cyberabad Police informed that the accused Naresh is a mediator of cricket betting and runs gambling, cricket betting in Vanasthalipuram. Police raided another house based on confession of Naresh and others, arrested the bookie agent Ravi Kumar.

Police added that the other bookies involved in the betting are being traced.
