Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Friday fired a salvo at Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for implicating his opponents into false cases and arrest of farmers who were demanding water and power. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, working president M. Bhatti Vikramarka and opposition leader in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir strongly condemned the arrest of Telangana United Front leader Vimalakka for holding a meeting in Nizamabad on beedi workers issue recently.

The leaders questioned the government for registering the cases under serious sections like 120 B (Criminal Conspiracy), 144, 148, 386, 109, 149, Sec 25, 26 of Indian Arms Act and Section 2&3 of Explosive Substance Act. It clearly showed the government was terrorising everyone who were exposing truth, they added.

Demanding immediate withdrawal of cases against Vimalakka, the Congress leaders said the Chief Minister should not forget that leaders like Vimalakka had played an active role in formation of Telangana state. They alleged that the government also foisted cases against Telangana activists, farmers and students who raised voice against Chandrashekar Rao’s ‘dictatorial’ rule after the formation of the state.

Some of the farmers in Khammam district were also facing attempt to murder cases for demanding water to their farm lands. Stating that the party constituted a fact finding committee led by Kisan Cell chairman M. Kodanda Reddy to enquire into cases against farmers, the TPCC president said the TRS government was stifling the voice of everyone who is speaking the truth and exposing the failures of government.
