Hyderabad: Congress MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy and former APCC president P Narsa Reddy expressed reservation against the proposal of Rahul Gandhi leading the party. They held that AICC chief Sonia Gandhi was fit to lead the party. Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises on Thursday, the senior Congress leaders held that Rahul Gandhi was too naive to take upon the party affairs, particularly, when the organisation is at the cross roads.

They said that the party needs experienced leadership and the one who is known amongst the Congress cadre throughout the country. Throwing their weight behind the current leader, Sonia Gandhi, they said that she was the only person who could take along the partymen. They stated that she was competent enough to continue to lead.

Govardhan Reddy stressed that Rahul Gandhi, the AICC Vice-President, must continue to interact with the National, State and district cadres and should tour throughout the country, to infuse among the party cadres a sense of dedication and take responsibility to organise the party. He held that some self-styled leaders, close to Rahul Gandhi, were trying to gain brownie points by eulogising him.

“Rahul Gandhi neither has the experience or bonding with most of the partymen, like his mother”, he said. Responding to a question on resentment amongst the State leadership against N Uttam Kumar’s elevation as TPCC president, the Rajya Sabha MP described the most vocal opponent Komatireddy Venkat Reddy as ‘biggest fool’, for speaking against the decision taken by party high command.
