Activists thwart child marriage

Nizamabad: The Child Protection Team Members of ICDS, prevented a child marriage at Savel Village of Balkonda Mandal, here on Thursday. The parents of 16 years old girl arranged her marriage with a mentally-challenged person but a tip of information for the team members, got the unholy alliance cancelled.

According the information of child protection officer H. Srihari, the family members of girl were conducting the marriage because of their poverty and illiteracy, The team members approached the family members and counseled them against such illegal acts, he adds.
