Rahul Gandhi to visit Telangana on May 9 over farmers’ suicides

To meet the families of the farmers who lost their crops due to unseasonal rains and committed suicide, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will make a visit to Telangana on May 9.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi visited Punjab on Tuesday where he witnessed the situation of the farmers who were finding it difficult to sell their produce with the unseasonal rains.

Telangana Congress Committee State President Uttam Kumar on Wednesday visit Delhi to schedule the Telangana visit of the Amethi MP. During the visit to Telangana, there is a possibility of Rahul Gandhi undertaking a 'padayatra' (foot march) for about 20 Km in the crop damaged areas.

The Telangana State Administration have been under the scanner after the Opposition Congress, TDP and BJP alleged that hundreds of farmers have committed suicide in the state since the TRS government took charge in June 2014.
